RCG Holdings Limited (AIM:RCG, HKSE:802), an international provider of biometric and RFID products and solution services with a primary focus in the Asia Pacific markets, is pleased to announce that Towards Soft Technology Sdn Bhd, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company, has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) with iCES Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“iCES”) to form a joint venture to promote RCG’s latest proprietary solution, the Kad Pintar Pelajar 1 Malaysia (the “Kad One”), which has been specifically developed for the education sector.   RCG will update the market if and when progress has been made on the joint venture.

RCG’s Kad One is an integrated solution tailored for the education sector, which brings the concepts of Internet of Things (“IoT”) and Machine-to-Machine (“M2M”) to everyday life. The system integrates biometrics, RFID, Internet and wireless communication to create an effective communication platform among students, teachers, parents, school administrators and the Ministry of Education.  Each student is equipped with an RFID card for multi-purpose identification and transactions within the school such as time and attendance, library, as well as point-of-sales in book stores and canteen applications.  The system also includes biometrics-based access control, automatic SMS generation to alert parents about their children’s attendance upon identification and e-wallet status, and enables the school to generate various reports and share them through the Internet. 

RCG believes that the Kad One system will narrow the communication gap among students, teachers, parents, schools and the authorities, as well as improving safety and security for students and the schools, handling crisis management in the school, reducing the administrative burden for school operators and providing data collection for the governmental bodies for improving the education system.

RCG shares the view with iCES, an IT consultancy advising the Malaysian governmental sector in obtaining high-end customised IT enterprise solutions, about the potential development and vast market of information and communication technology for the education sector in Malaysia.  In the planned joint venture, RCG will provide the Kad One system, ranging from consultation, the provision of hardware and software, installation and maintenance, while iCES will leverage its customer base and carry out marketing efforts to promote the Kad One system and perform project management task.  The collaboration will bring synergies and benefits to both parties utilising each others’ unique capabilities and strengths in promoting quality products and innovative solutions in improving the education system in Malaysia.  The intention is to initially provide the solution to around 10,000 primary and secondary schools in Malaysia, catering for 5.8 million students and 400,000 teachers who will be able to benefit from this system and to extend it to other schools within and outside Malaysia.  In 2010 alone, the Malaysian Government has earmarked RM30 billion (approx £5.6 billion) for improving primary and secondary schools system nationwide.
