RFID to secure infant safety at new medical center

4 Jan 2010
The Middle Tennessee Medical Center’s new facility will be in full operation in year 2010. The new facility holds 286 beds and expects to accommodate 2,500 baby deliveries annually. In order to offer a secured environment for the infants, the hospital decided to deploy RFID tracking system throughout the premises, also aims to replace the existing manually checking and, barcode scanning wristbands system.

Many hospitals already have RFID-enabled tracking system deployed for more efficient monitoring. However, instead of triggering an alarm for unauthorised moving of babies, alerts will be pop up on all employees’ computer screen, thus avoiding the nuisance caused.
