Education bodies stop absent teachers with biometrics
18 Jan 2010

Public colleges under the Punjab Higher Education Department have recorded a growing trend of teachers’ absence, and the department has decided to install biometric scanners at the college premises to curb the teachers’ arrival and departure time.

As described by the department spokesman, the absenteeism means the teachers are earning more and more at private colleges and tuition centres and this situation must cease, said the article. The department is in the first phase and a pilot project will be launched in ten colleges before initiating a full roll-out.
