A residential apartment located in downtown Montreal, Quebec has installed a biometrics access control system to tighten security. The biometrics system bases on fingerprint scanning of tenants at the building entrance.
In order to offer a protection to the tenants’ privacy, the fingerprint device does not collect fingerprint images but only converted the specific points on fingerprint into a digital code. Besides, a swipe card system has been set up as a second option for those unwilling to have their fingerprint scanned.
