Fingerprints and other biometric data had long been key sources for law enforcement and the military to track down wanted individuals. As this database has grown with a rapid pace in the past years, US government has set up a special agency named the Biometrics Identity Management Agency to manage the vast biometrics records.
This new agency has responsibilities across the entire US Department of Defence and to support the department’s authoritative biometrics database. The launch of such agency may imply that the US government is developing biometrics as one of the major security measures in the upcoming future.
